About
Meet your dietitian
Dr. Kimberley Brown
NZRD, PhD, AFHEA
I’m a New Zealand Registered Dietitian with a doctorate in infant nutrition, a teaching fellowship, and a clinical background supporting people with allergies, intolerances, gut concerns, pregnancy nutrition, and complex health needs.
Raised in rural New Zealand, I’ve always felt most at home in the open spaces of the South Island. That love of “real life” (and real people) shapes how I work: practical, grounded, and focused on what’s sustainable — not what’s perfect.
The pivot to nutrition
After leaving school, I originally began studying veterinary science, however, an early lecture on the role of nutrition in renal disease changed my direction. Alongside my experience managing my own food allergies, I became deeply interested in the relationship between food and health — and how empowering it can be when you understand what is happening in your body and how this can be influenced by your food choices.
Experience
I graduated as a New Zealand Registered Dietitian, then completed my PhD as part of the First Foods New Zealand Study; specialising in infant feeding and dietary practices. Clinically, I’ve worked in hospital and specialist settings across most areas including ICU (intensive care), surgical, medical, paediatrics, pregnancy, eating disorders and mental health, rehabilitation, older persons’ health, and gastroenterology. I have also worked as the Clinical Lead dietitian at my local hospital, supporting a dietetic team to provide optimal care to our community.
Now, I work fully in private practice, providing personalised, evidence-based nutrition support for people who want clarity, confidence, and a plan that fits real life.
Values
-
I meet people where they are, especially during vulnerable or overwhelming moments.
-
I ground my work in science while recognising the human experience behind every diagnosis.
-
Every body, every family, and every journey is different. I aim to translate complex nutrition science into clear, tailored guidance that feels achievable and specific to the individual.
-
I believe that optimised nutrition in early life is fundamental to lifelong health and wellbeing — empowering individuals to thrive and strengthening the foundation for future generations.
-
I prioritise long-term, balanced health outcomes over quick fixes, creating care models that support full and flourishing lives.
